The gingival sulcus—the narrow groove between the teeth and gums—tends to accumulate food particles and plaque. The Modified Bass Technique is a brushing method that focuses on gently cleaning this area by applying subtle vibrations, making it especially effective for gum care.

Food particles trapped between the teeth and gums create an environment where bacteria can thrive. This can lead to plaque and tartar buildup and, if left untreated, may result in periodontal disease. The Modified Bass Technique helps effectively remove plaque and tartar from these hard-to-reach areas, supporting healthier gums.

    1) Place the toothbrush bristles at a 45° angle between the teeth and gums, gently pressing them into the gingival sulcus. Apply light vibration using short left-and-right movements. Then, rotate your wrist to brush upward (away from the gums) at least five times.
    2) As the inside of the front teeth is narrow, hold the toothbrush vertically. Apply gentle vibration and brush upward along the teeth.
    3) Brush along the chewing surfaces of the teeth. Complete your routine by gently brushing the tongue and the roof of the mouth.
Using this method, you will be able to effectively remove food particles and plaque from between the teeth and gums.

Applying too much pressure during vibration can damage the gums. Keep your hand relaxed and focus on gentle movement.
Start from the innermost teeth and work outward, brushing all outer surfaces first, then repeat the process on the inner surfaces to ensure no areas are missed.
